Travel grants for scholarship recipient graduate students for conferences abroad

Technion considers the participation of research graduate students in scientific conferences abroad as highly important. Consequently, the Graduate School supports scholarship recipient students through travel grants. The purpose of these grants is to enable excellent graduate students to actively participate in international scientific conferences, i.e. presenting a paper or poster.

The travel grant is provided on the basis of excellence of the scholarship recipient, as presented / as appears in scientific publications, course grades and recommendation letters.

General Information

  • A request to receive a travel grant from the graduate school must be submitted through the “Request from the Graduate School for participation in travel expenses to conferences abroad” form, with the inclusion of all of the documents required, as stated in the request form. Requests that are submitted without all of the required documents will not be addressed.
  • The request and required documents may be submitted throughout the entire year
  • The travel grant will only finance part of the travel expenses for participation in the conference.  The amount of the School’s travel grant will be determined by a committee (the Graduate School vice Dean and the head of the Scholarships Office) based on the academic achievements and significance of the travel, and subject to budget limitations.
  • Receiving travel expenses funds for a conference abroad from the Technion Graduate School is subject to supplementary support from the supervisor/academic department.
  • Requests for travel grants are discussed four times per year during: December, March, June and August.  In addition, additional discussions are held as needed and at the discretion of the school.
  • The requests for travel grants will be submitted for future travels that are held after the dates of the discussions in the graduate School.
In exceptional circumstances, when the requested documents cannot be submitted according to the timeline above, the request can be submitted no later than one month upon returning from the travel/ conference. The request will be reviewed in the next discussion meeting.
  • Answers to requests (positive or negative) are sent within one month from the above dates via email to the Technion email addresses of the students.
  • The travel grant will be provided for travels to conferences held during the scholarship receipt period and for conferences held during the three months after the conclusion of the scholarship.
