The minimum grade for receiving a scholarship will be set by each academic unit and can be changed from semester to semester, but will never be below the average grade of 80. The condition for the minimum average grade for scholarship recipients must be kept at any time of the studies and it is forbidden to deviate from it during the whole time of reception of scholarship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For additional information, see\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/graduate.technion.ac.il\/en\/scholarship-award-guidelines\/\">Scholarship award guidelines<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Scholarships are intended for the provision of financial support to the recipients during the scholarship period, provided the recipient does not have additional income from wages, including sabbatical pay.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Students who receive unemployment benefits are not eligible for scholarships unless their unemployment benefits are for a part-time job, held in concurrence with receiving partial scholarship. In such a case, the payment of the partial scholarship will be continued for the duration approved while employed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span dir=\"LTR\">Graduate students (including scholarship recipients) are due to register and pay the national insurance fees and national health insurance fees, directly to the National Insurance Institute (BTL)<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Awarding the scholarship is subjected upon approval the <a href=\"https:\/\/graduate.technion.ac.il\/en\/scholarship-agreement\/\">Scholarship Agreement<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">. The full scholarship conditions are\u00a0published at the scholarship agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It should be emphasized that awarding the scholarship, if any, is intended to enable to dedicate time for research and to assist in assuring completion of the degree requirements within the time frame of the scholarship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Once the scholarship has been approved (by the Graduate School scholarship office) the scholarship recipient will receive a letter \u201cEssential information for planning course of study and research\u201d in which will be specified the academic \u201cmilestones\u201d and other details pertaining to the student\u2019s studies \u00a0including \u00a0date of thesis submission to the graduate school. This date will appear on the transcript as well as \u00a0in every scholarship letter that will be sent to the student during her\/his studies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The scholarships at Technion are awarded in monthly portions. A student may receive 1-6 scholarship portions in a given month. The number of scholarship portions is determined by the academic unit. The amount of the scholarship portions is determined in accordance with the type of degree and research stage of studies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Payment of the monthly scholarship is at the beginning of the following month, i.e. The scholarship for October is paid on November 1<sup>st<\/sup>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #002147;\">Accumulation of credit points<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #002147;\"><strong><br \/>\nMSc Students<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\">T<span style=\"color: #000000;\">he credits required for the degree, including supplementary courses, are based on academic background.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For scholarship recipients the schedule for accumulating and number of credits is in accordance with the total number of credits required for the degree and the number of scholarship portions awarded. <strong>Individual information<\/strong> will be sent with the first scholarship confirmation letter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>According to the above, the following are options for a scholarship recipient who receives 3 or more scholarship portions: <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Accumulating at least 75% of the total credits required for the degree during the first 2 semesters of studies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr; padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Or<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Accumulating at least 50% of the total credits required for the degree during the first 2 semesters of studies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In both options, the student must take at least 8 credits in the first semester and at least 12 credits in the first year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><br \/>\nAccording to the above, the following are the options for a scholarship recipient who receives 1-2 scholarship portions: <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Accumulating at least 75% of the total credits required during the first 3 semesters of studies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr; padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Or <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Accumulating at 50% of the total credits required during the first 3 semesters of studies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In both options, the student must take at least 6 credits in the first semester and at least 10 credits in the first year.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #002147;\"><strong>PhD Students<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h4 style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Ordinary PhD Track<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A student studying towards a PhD in the ordinary track, who receives a scholarship, must begin to accrue the required credits no later than in the\u00a0semester after\u00a0the semester of passing the candidacy examination.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Special PhD Track<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A student studying towards a PhD in the special track must begin to accrue the required credits in accordance to the Graduate school regulations, and accordance to the information detailed in the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/graduate.technion.ac.il\/en\/study-tracks-requirements-for-phd-doctor-of-philosophy\/\">special PhD track academic requirements<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #002147;\">Guidelines for presence at Technion and work <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #002147;\"><strong>while receiving a scholarship<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The scope of the stay in Technion for a student who receives a scholarship is relative to the size of the scholarship and in accordance with the provisions below.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">The stay in Technion and the prohibition on employed elsewhere as defined in section 4 of the Scholarship Agreement and in accordance with the provisions below, are from the beginning of the month in which the scholarship is provided, even if the semester begins later on in the month.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">The provisions of Sections A-D below do not detract from, but rather add to, the<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0Regulations of \u201cEntry into Israel\u201d, said regulations forbid students holding an A\/2 (Student) visa to <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">work in Israel, as detailed in section 4.12 of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/graduate.technion.ac.il\/en\/scholarship-agreement\/\">Scholarship Agreement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>A.<\/strong> A recipient of four scholarship portions and above has to be present on the Technion campus five days a week. The student may not work at any position (including employment elsewhere) other than be employed by the Office for Academic Staff at Technion as a teaching assistant for up to 1,100 employment units.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>B.<\/strong> A recipient of three scholarship portions has to be present on the Technion campus four days a week. The student may be employed by the Office for Academic Staff at Technion as a teaching assistant for up to 1,400 employment units, or be employed elsewhere for up to one day a week, at most (International students are not allowed to work).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>C. <\/strong>A recipient of two scholarship portions has to be present on the Technion campus three days a week. The student may be employed by the Office for Academic Staff at Technion as a teaching assistant for up to 1,400 employment units, or be employed elsewhere for up to two working days a week, at most (International students are not allowed to work).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>D.<\/strong> A recipient of one scholarship portion has to be present on the Technion campus two days a week. The student may be employed by the Office for Academic Staff at Technion as a teaching assistant for up to 1,400 employment units, or be employed elsewhere for up to three working days a week, at most (International students are not allowed to work).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\nTo be clear, \u201cemployment elsewhere\u201d includes also taking part in, and\/or being a partner in, and\/or being a member of, and\/or any other activity within the framework of enterprises and\/or start-up companies, either with or without financial gain, and the limitations regarding the number of hours of employment per week, specified in sections A \u2013 D above, are relevant also in this case. The recipient will also submit to the Graduate School, together with the scholarship application\/extension application and at the beginning of each academic year, an approval from his\/her employer\/s, specifying the scope of his\/her employment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\nAccording to the recommendation of the Academic Unit, the recipient may prepare an application for Specially Approved Employment (using the form\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/graduate.technion.ac.il\/en\/request-for-specially-approved-employment\/\">Request for Specially Approved Employment for scholarship recipients<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">) \/ a detailed letter explaining the nature of the \u201cemployment elsewhere\u201d, which is in addition to the limitations specified in this Sec. 1-4, and submit it to the Dean of the Graduate School, in order to receive the approval of the Dean for carrying out the above activity.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #002147;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #002147;\"><strong>Applying for a scholarship<\/strong><strong> (Portions)<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\nNew candidates requesting a<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/portalex.technion.ac.il\/irj\/portal\/external\/CampusMob\">Scholarship Portions Application<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\">, will submit it online using students\u2019 portal, &#8220;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/portalex.technion.ac.il\/irj\/portal\/external\/CampusExt\">My Requests&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">in coordination with the Graduate Degree Coordinator (Secretary).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The scholarship application can be submitted throughout the year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Guidelines for Scholarship Recipients (The full guidelines can be found in the\u00a0Scholarship Agreement) Graduate school scholarships are awarded based on\u00a0academic criteria alone.
