The purpose of graduate studies in physics is to shape outstanding students into independent researchers and original, groundbreaking thinkers. Through advanced courses and research under the guidance of faculty members at the forefront of physics research, students are exposed to the excitement and beauty inherent in scientific inquiry. Many of our graduates go on to become visionary leaders in academia and in high-tech, knowledge-intensive industries, both in Israel and around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The graduate studies experience at the Technion Physics Department is unique; The department is well known not only for its academic achievements and international collaborations, but also for its friendly and open atmosphere. The rich intellectual environment is augmented by frequent visits by well-known scientists from all over the world, many of whom give distinguished lecture series, in all branches of physics. This international exposure, as well as traveling to conferences abroad, provides students with an opportunity to expand their intellectual horizons, and helps them to create an essential network of international connections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/phys.technion.ac.il\/en\/research\/research-fields\"><strong>Among the research fields at the department:<\/strong><\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">astrophysics and cosmology, atomic and molecular physics, biophysics and soft matter physics, complex systems, condensed matter physics, elementary particle physics, general relativity, high energy physics, nonlinear optics, plasma physics, and quantum science and technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">We offer two graduate degrees:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>1. MSc (masters) Degree<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Students studying for an MSc (masters) degree must complete a series of required courses and perform original research culminating in a written thesis.<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">With the concurrence of a faculty advisor and the approval of the graduate studies committee, an excellent student can, in some cases, continue directly to PhD studies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>2.
