The Interdisciplinary Program for Urban Engineering<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

\nThe Interdisciplinary Program for Urban Engineering includes the following academic units: Civil and Environmental Engineering, Architecture and Town Planning.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The program is intended for holders of a Bachelor’s degree in the following fields: Civil Engineering (in all areas), Mapping and Geo-information Engineers, Architects, and Landscape Architects.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The field of urban engineering within the municipal world requires an understanding of various public, legal, and administrative systems. Decision-making for city management is grounded in numerous laws and requires addressing multiple stakeholders: the local authority with its elected officials and departments, statutory planning institutions, various government ministries, developers, NGOs, and local and national organizations, as well as the public for whom planning actions are intended. The urban engineer is tasked with understanding how to address property rights, planning and construction laws, local government laws, general administrative law, and initiating urban projects for public benefit. Additionally, they must know how to manage the large team within the department, coordinate and achieve goals with other administrative bodies, and balance the interests of developers, residents, and civil society organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The degree emphasizes a broad and multidisciplinary approach, as required by the nature of cities. Its goal is to provide an introduction to various fields and the interactions between them. Therefore, the offered degree has a professional orientation. The program includes courses covering all the necessary knowledge areas for skilled work in urban engineering, including the following fields: urban planning, legal aspects, transportation and urban infrastructure, environmental aspects, management and economics, and urban systems and infrastructure.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n


\nThe degree awarded is Master of Engineering in Urban Engineering (MEU)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The program is a structured course of study spanning 5 semesters and includes an advanced personal research seminar. The curriculum is not research-based and does not include a thesis.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The study format combines Zoom classes on Wednesday afternoons and on-campus classes in Haifa on Friday mornings.<\/span><\/p>\n
