{"id":5853,"date":"2024-02-08T19:25:29","date_gmt":"2024-02-08T19:25:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/grad-new.web3dev.technion.ac.il\/?page_id=5853"},"modified":"2025-05-08T09:52:57","modified_gmt":"2025-05-08T09:52:57","slug":"masters-degree-cum-laude-suma-cum-laude","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/graduate.technion.ac.il\/en\/masters-degree-cum-laude-suma-cum-laude\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduation with Honors"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #002147;\"><strong>Master&#8217;s degree Cum Laude and Summa Cum Laude<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Graduate School\u2019s &#8220;achievement level threshold&#8221; for Cum Laude and Summa cum Laude Master&#8217;s degree will be determined according to the distribution of the grades among all the graduates of the previous year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Departmental Graduate Studies Committees will receive from the graduate school a list of the potential students eligible for honors (Cum Laude, Summa cum Laude). \u00a0Departmental Graduate Studies Committees will send a list of recommended students for honors, and will rate them based on their GPA and final exam grade (for research track) and by taking into consideration further factors, such as recommendations from the members of the Examiners Board, publications, awards, teaching, courses, research area, etc. (separately for thesis and non-thesis tracks).<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The decision is made by the Graduate School Awards Committee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Graduate School Awards Committee will select those eligible for Cum Laude so that they will not exceed 15% of the graduates in each department. In addition, the Graduate School Awards Committee will select those eligible for Summa cum Laude so that they will not exceed the top 4% of <strong>all<\/strong> of the graduates of that year.
