1) Abstract
2 PDF files of the abstract will be uploaded to the portal>>Campus>> “MY Graduation” , one of which signed by the advisor, and the other one without the advisor’s signature.
2) Confirmation from the Central Library for no book debt
The central library will check whether the student has Technion books on loan. If they do not have books in their possession, a confirmation will be given in the system. If they have the books in their possession, an email will be sent to the student and he/she will have to return the books to the library.
3) Depositing the thesis in the departmental library and requests for publication hold.
The Technion’s default is that the master’s/PhD degree research products i.e. the thesis and the abstract, will be uploaded to the Technion’s systems and will be available for review in accordance with the Technion’s rules and policies. However, sometimes there are circumstances that require a temporary hold on the publication of the thesis and/or abstract. In such cases, it is possible to request a hold on the thesis and/or abstract publication for a period of one year or (at most) two years when the thesis is deposited in the Technion Library. Here is a link to the procedure “Request to Extend the hold on Thesis and/or Abstract Publication.”
Below are the instructions for depositing the thesis in the departmental library (there is no need to upload it to the portal):
- A PDF file of the final version of the thesis. Appendices of any kind (incl. video, audio, graphs, maps, texts etc.) need to be contained separately in one ZIP file.
- The deposit form completed and signed by the student and the advisors.
- A student requesting that his thesis will not be permitted for review on the Internet and on the Technion’s internal network or on the internet alone will submit a request to delay the publication of the thesis – according to the instructions in the deposit form for the library.
The request to delay the publication should be sent to the Graduation Procedure Office before sending the thesis PDF file to the library.
The request should include:
1. The reason for the delay.
2. The time period for the delay- one or two years.
3. Is the requested delay related to the thesis PDF file and the abstract or only to the thesis PDF file.
4. An approval and signature of the advisor/s.
After the request will be processed, the approval of the Jacobs Graduate School’s dean will be sent by email to the student, the advisor and the departmental library.
The thesis and/or abstract will be published at the end of the hold period, unless a reasoned extension request is submitted, no later than thirty days before the end of the approved publication hold period.
- For your convenient, you can complete an Online deposit form.
- Please note: For the purpose of research identification, you will need to open an ORCID profile. Instructions are included in the deposit form and are available on the Technion Libraries portal.
Additionally, if the academic unit where you studied has additional requirements, or if a “entry/exit” form is required – it is your responsibility to ensure their completion and submission to the academic unit.
