Registration for Studies Concurrent with an Additional Degree

Students who will have not yet graduated their undergraduate studies, may apply to the Graduate School. Acceptance to the degree will be conditional on the presentation of a confirmation of eligibility for a degree and final transcript before November 30 for students beginning in the fall semester, and April 30 for students beginning in spring semester. Students must complete all of their obligations for the undergraduate degree by the beginning of the semester.

Students entitled to a scholarship who have yet to submit their confirmation of eligibility and a final transcript, will receive the scholarship retroactively only after providing said confirmation and a final undergraduate transcript to the Registration and Admission Office by the date posted on the acceptance letter.

Studies of students who do not provide the confirmation of eligibility for a degree and a final undergraduate transcript will be terminated, as of the date of the commencement of studies, while the students will be charged tuition as required. Graduates of Technion are not required to present confirmation of eligibility and a record of grades.

In special cases, please send a detailed letter to the Registration and Admission Office.

Outstanding Technion undergraduate students, whose cumulative GPA is 90 or greater, and who have completed their required mandatory courses, may study for both an undergraduate degree and a Graduate degree during their last semester of undergraduate studies, based on the recommendation of the academic unit. Students in four or five year tracks may, in unique cases, do so during the last two semesters of their studies, based on the recommendation of the academic unit.

Students who are accepted for master’s degree studies in a research track and who receive approval to study in parallel (during one or two semesters) in undergraduate studies at Technion in order to complete the bachelor’s degrees are entitled to receive a tuition scholarship for the period of study in parallel. The tuition scholarship will be granted automatically to a student who does not receive a scholarship from the academic department, provided that the student pays tuition for undergraduate studies.

Students who study in parallel and are entitled to a (graduate) scholarship during the parallel studies are required to complete their obligations for the bachelor’s degree and be entitled to a degree by the date written in the acceptance letter. Failure to meet this requirement will lead to termination of studies.

Students who studied a double major in undergraduate studies at Technion and who were accepted for graduate studies on the basis of one of the majors may complete the additional undergraduate degree at Technion in parallel, in a scope of up to six academic credits per semester, with the approval of the Dean of the Graduate School.

Graduate students may not study towards an additional undergraduate degree.

For details regarding the possibility of studying for an additional master’s degree, please review studies towards a secondary degree listed below.

Students who meet the following conditions may apply to study a secondary graduate degree:
    • Master’s students in a research track who have studied for at least one semester, have a cumulative GPA of 90 or higher, and have an approval of their research topic.
    • PhD students who have passed the candidacy examination and completed at least 50% off the degree’s credits.

If the request is approved, the student may study, in addition to the primary graduate degree, a non-thesis secondary degree in a scope of up to six credits per semester. (This limitation does not apply to the MBA degree and the prerequisites for a teaching certificate in ‘Education in Science and Technology”).

The student must submit a request to the Jacobs Graduate School using the request form for secondary degree studies and follow the instructions listed on the form.

Students must guarantee that the progress of their research will not be harmed as a result of the studies towards a secondary graduate degree, and that they will not file a request for an extension of the study program.

Tuition for the secondary graduate degree shall be paid based on the tuition procedures.

A graduate degree student will not be permitted to study towards an additional undergraduate degree.

Students who wish to register for a doctorate and have not yet completed their master’s degree studies can apply. These students will be able to be accepted to studies after submitting their thesis. In such cases, admission will be conditional on the completion of the master’s degree within three months of admission.

Candidates studying for a master’s degree other than the Technion are required to submit a certificate of thesis submission in the format accepted by the institution (Faculty approval\ Email from the advisor\ Letter of confirmation of the submission of the thesis).

A student with conditional admission is entitled to receive scholarships at the expense of the months of general eligibility for a doctoral degree
